Hello Everyone,

I have made it to Rio! So crazy!!! I am an Olympian? What?! So amazing to know I am one of the 313 Canadian Athletes competing at these games, and to be a part of the small group of incredible, inspiring wrestling women I have looked up to for years.

This past month has been such a grind. I have been training harder than I have ever trained before. It is very interesting how far you can push your body before it will break. What it takes to get to this point has been worth it!

The last 24 hours in St. Catharines was crazy. So much was happening.  Brock University gave Michelle and I a send-off to Rio. It was great to see all the support! Thank you so much for everything! I have also been in the process of moving all my stuff back to Saskatoon for the past few months but in the last day I also had to have EVERYTHING packed in the back of my car and ready to be driven back to Saskatoon! My Brock teammate Emily is amazing and is going to drive my car and all my belongings back to Saskatoon while I am in Rio. When the Olympics is done I will have all my belongings back in my house in Saskatoon. My focus is on the 18th but it is comforting to know the move is over as well.

When I finally boarded the plane for Rio, I was sleeping in the first 5 minutes of sitting down. I slept the entire flight. Life has been so crazy and when I sat down I was so relieved to know all the hard work has paid off and it is time to soak in the Olympic Games. All the Canadian Olympic clothing kit we received from HBC are so sweet! I am enjoying repping the gear around the village.

To be a part of the opening ceremonies was unreal! When Canada was walking into the stadium we started singing the national anthem. Wow to be a part of this! To know everyone around has been on the same path as me is incredible. It was a ton of fun to all have matching outfits. I am just so thankful!

The next day after opening ceremonies we drove to Buzios. We were told it was a 2-hour drive away but it ended up being closer to 3.5-hours. It was a long day in a very tight van ride but we made it! Buzios is great! We are here to focus on training and to get away from the craziness of the everything until the 14th. Then we will drive back to Rio. I am so happy Wrestling Canada had the foresight to have our tapering camp somewhere else.

I am ready!

PS! I am loving all the posts on facebook with my jilla killa t-shirts! Keep posting them :) if you do not have them go to Craven sport services and pick one up!

Way to go Jill! I'm glad you're blogging about this - it will be great to look back on in the years to come. I love the pictures - especially the moose shot! I'm also glad that you posted where to pick up the shirts - I'll be stopping by to pick one up. :)
Work hard and have fun, and know that we are all rooting for you!

On you on the 18th. I am so excited for you.

We don't know you Jillian but we know your dad! I was a childhood neighbor, i think you are already a winner if you anything like him, we are so affected by his pride in you, however I know it is your hard work, character, and determination that got you were you are and that make you a champion!! Good luck ! Go get them!!

I do know who you are but have not specifically seen you since you were just a little girl living in St.Brieux. I think April went to school with my daughter Christianne. I will be cheering you on from home. So excited for you young lady. You have worked so hard for this now is your time. Best of everything good that is about to happen.
